The setting is a fictitious town in southeastern Michigan known as Royal Woods, drawing inspiration from Savino’s hometown of Royal Oak. Its conceptual roots lie in Savino’s upbringing in a sizable family, with its animation drawing substantial influence from newspaper comic strips.
Since its premiere, the series has achieved commendable ratings, swiftly ascending to the position of the highest-rated children’s animated series on American television in its inaugural month on the airwaves. The show has garnered noteworthy media attention and nominations at both the 28th and 29th GLAAD Media Awards for its portrayal of Howard and Harold McBride, two secondary characters depicted as an interracial gay married couple. Their introduction into the series was hailed in the news as a historic moment and triggered a surge in viewer ratings.
As of May 2023, the television series has completed seven seasons. The franchise has given rise to various forms of media creations, such as the spin-off series, The Casagrandes. Furthermore, the live-action series, The Really Loud House, debuted in November 2022 and a second live-action television film, titled: A Really Haunted Loud House, began airing in September 2023.
